FIRST BLOG

This is the first blog I've ever written. Although I'm pretty fond of writing and reading, I was limited to writing offline only. The things I wrote were exclusively for me. But then there are so many people out there who must be going through the same things that I am and wondering what to do. Like me, they must also be looking for help "outside." That left me thinking. I know it's going to sound cliché, but we are in this together. We can learn so much from one another. Our little experience could give someone an idea or hope. There is so much we can gain from one another. It's a shame that even when we help each other, we're looking for gains, monetary or something else. Giving someone something for free is so liberating.

However, like other people, I'm also writing this blog for selfish reasons. I want the ecstasy of helping someone. I want the freedom we get when we express ourselves. I want the world to become one. I want world peace. Yes, I want a lot of things. And yes, I won't get them all from blogging. But I just went ahead and said those things.

I don't even know how many people I will be able to reach with this post. But sorry to say this, but it's not only about you. It's about me as well. I'm doing this not only for others but, more importantly, for me.

I have read so many self-help books that I think I can write one myself now. But they don't give you anything. Yes, after reading so many books and articles and watching videos about motivation, if there's one thing that I can tell for sure, it's that motivation has to come from within. I don't know if anybody else has ever felt this, but reading those books or watching those videos only makes you feel more guilty about yourself, and instead of getting pumped, you start brooding.

Now, let me contradict myself and say that they are not so bad. Let me explain. When you feel lost or don't know what you are doing wrong that is becoming an obstacle in your path, it is then that these books or videos could come in handy.

Suppose you are a person who doesn't know herself/himself that well, then these could guide you. But if you are like me, you know yourself thoroughly. You know why you do what you do. You know why you don't do what you don't do. In that case, you're simply hiding from the truth. The answers you are supposed to get from within you are the answers you are searching for outside. You're lying to yourself and giving excuses to yourself so that you don't have to come out and face the bitter truth that you are just a coward. You know what you need to do. But you don't dare to take that leap. You're buying time. No, you're wasting time. You feel that if you keep delaying like this, your time here will be over, and you'll go to your deathbed saying, "See? I knew I could not do much with my life. I didn't have it in me. So now, I can rest in peace."

But peace is reserved for those who work for it. All the great people found peace amidst the most chaotic of environments. Each of us can be at peace. And whether we believe it or not, say it or not, all of us crave peace.

So, where does peace come from? It comes from within you when you know that you gave your best. When you know that you helped someone. When you know that you are your best, authentic self. It is then that your heart fills with peace, bringing that genuine happiness on your face that you have been craving for such a long time.
